A two minute cylinder is 100 threads per inch and a four minute cylinder 200 threads per inch. A functioning business machine is part of our phono history but it's a bit of an almost unusable oddity. I enjoy seeing one in a collection but a buyer needs to make that purchase with open eyes.

Precisely!
Also, the rheostat on the back probably means the machine has the AC/DC motor with "EDISON" cast into the shell. It's too late a machine for the bi-polar motor. In any event, this is not a valuable machine, it's not in good condition, nor can it play entertainment cylinders. I'd advise waiting for a better example (if you really want one).
