Does anyone know what motor this actually uses?

By that time I would expect an Ekonowatt. I'm not sure.

I am, however, pretty sure it won't play that Indestructible cylinder that's on the mandrel!

I have a ton of Edison universal and Ekonowatt motors, maybe if nobody else bids on it it could be worth it? They do seem to be more desirable when the model resembles an Edison home or standard...

I was thinking a business machine that late would record and play back at 150 groves per inch. A two minute cylinder is 100 threads per inch and a four minute cylinder 200 threads per inch. A functioning business machine is part of our phono history but it's a bit of an almost unusable oddity. I enjoy seeing one in a collection but a buyer needs to make that purchase with open eyes. :ugeek: : (kind of like that guy!)

Precisely!

Also, the rheostat on the back probably means the machine has the AC/DC motor with "EDISON" cast into the shell. It's too late a machine for the bi-polar motor. In any event, this is not a valuable machine, it's not in good condition, nor can it play entertainment cylinders. I'd advise waiting for a better example (if you really want one).

Hmmm...

I need one of those resistors for an Alva Model D...

Id expect that the one on this machine is open, though, due to the water damage.
