In the UK collecting fraternity, Columbia has always been overshadowed by HMV, and here is an extreme example.
The Columbia 134a cost £30 in 1929, placing it in direct competition with HMV163, but in old age their perceived values are very different. If no-one else bids, this 134a could be yours for £50, one tenth the cost of a good 163. Would the 163 sound better? Only your ears can be the judge. Would it sound ten times better? Absolutely not.
Let's hope someone in the area will save it.
