Is this worth pursuing?

Post by andyjon100 »

This has been listed for a while, and I am kind of liking it, and the idea of having it's original crate.....Is it a decent machine? The condition looks pretty nice. Is the asking price too far out of line? (I can't post pics now, per the 'friendly reminder' but will later today). I appreciate any input!

I think it's very interesting to have the machine along with its crate plus the price is reasonable. I've been in the hobby a long time and I've never owned a packing crate for a table model. I think it would be a nice and interesting addition to any collection.

I second. This is a very nice earlier VV IX and if you add in the crate I'd say the price is very reasonable. They do turn up, but not often with the machine.

I agree, an early VV-IX with the carate that is came in would be very nice to have and the price seems very reasonable for this rare combination.

I'd go for it. How often do see the original crate to match the machine? Very Rare, indeed.

I thought it is pretty cool, too. I think the best part is that it's not just A crate from A Victrola, it's THE crate from THAT Victrola. I'm waiting to get a reply for the seller...

I'd also ask about the Orthophonic hiding out in the background.

If it wasn’t 5 hrs away I would buy it. He said he’d take $250..

If I had the space to properly display it, I'd have bought it months ago.

I'm not sure why it hasn't sold, seems like a no brainer to me. It reminds me of the nice Victrola "spider leg" that was posted here in Rochester last year iirc (maybe 2017) for months and months, too.

I don't get it.

Best,
