James -- as an Edison non-aficionado -- what makes these records "special?"

Good luck with your auction!

Here's an excellent discussion of the various (US) "Special" Amberol cylinder records.

Thank you. I learned something new today!

The link above has great information about many of the Special Edison promotional records.
Here's a link about the promotion for the "D Series"
https://archive.org/details/edisonphono ... /page/n178

As a promotional scheme in 1910, you would have gotten 6 of the these records by referring a potential buyer of any new Edison Phonograph to a dealer, and that referral turned into a sale!

These records were not offered for sale, making the 24 titles of the "D Series" highly sought after.

D01 - Happy-Go Lucky, New York Military Band
D02 - I'll Wait At The Golden Gate For You, Will Oakland
D03 - Joinin' De Church, Golden & Hughes
D04 - I Fear No Foe, Edwin Skedden
D05 - Scherzo-Tarentelle, Albert Spalding
D06 - Kissing, Ada Jones
D07 - No Sorrow There, Anthony and Harrison
D08 - The Ghost Of The Banjo Coon, Arthur Collins
D09 - Reminiscences Of Scotland, Victor Herbert And His Orchestra
D10 - He Was A Soldier Too, Billy Murray
D11 - The Light Of The World Is Jesus, Edison Mixed Quartette
D12 - Silver Threads Among The Gold, Marie Narelle
D13 - African Dreamland, New York Military Band
D14 - Where The Ivy's Clinging, Dearie, 'Round The Old Oak Tree, Manuel Romain
D15 - Smile! Smile! Smile, Ada Jones and Billy Murray
D16 - Flanagan Entertaining The Club, Steve Porter
D17 - Dreams Of Childhood, New York Military Band
D18 - You're Just A Little Bit O' Sugar Cane, Joe Maxwell
D19 - Swingin' In De Sky, Collins and Harlan
D20 - Halli-Hallo Medley, George P. Watson
D21 - XYLO Medley, Charles Daab
D22 - Because Of You, W. H. Thompson
D23 - There Are Fifty-Seven Ways To Catch A Man, Stella Mayhew
D24 - Camp Meeting Julilee, Peerless Quartette
