The VV-2-35 actually sounds very good providing the sound box (reproducer) is in excellent shape. It's not quite up to the sound of a restored VV-2-55, but it comes close. SEE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8D0dLWaP6NU

The 2-35, unfortunately, was fitted with a special Orthophonic sound box that cannot be opened for repair. All of the parts were press-fitted at the factory. (It's virtually identical to the HMV No. 16 sound box used on the early HMV 102 and HMV 99 portables.) Also, the one-piece tonearm will not accommodate a standard Orthophonic sound box without doing some extensive modification work.
