The 8-9 also has a metal horn, which is same as 8-35 & 8-8's. I have two pairs of those horns to listen to hi-fi stereo using RCA alnico horn drivers and Field coil Altec drivers. Those are designed by Western Electric.JerryVan wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 11:19 amHow about the 8-9?Watanabehi wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 10:21 amThis machine has a metal re-entrant horn like HMV re-entrant standup larger machines. The 8-8 has apparently been marked down to $2495.00...

And is now $2,195 and has been for a few days. This is a rare machine that has been very nicely restored. Someone must want it. I suspect Mike will be open to offers below that. I'd be interested since I'm nearby but with limited space, I'm saving my open spot for an external horn schoolhouse when an affordable one comes available locally.

This machine is near Portland, OR which is about a 2.5 hour round trip to me. I could get it to the APS Midwest Expo in June for diesel $.

I believe this machine has the same metal horn as the VV 8-9 and the 8-35, which both sound excellent. Not sure of a correct retail price, but the sound quality is phenomenal with the metal horn in these phonographs. That, combined with rarity, should command a slightly higher price than the 8-9 or 8-35. Just another possibly worthless opinion.

I have two of them, and although I know that’s unusual, that doesn’t make his price any less so.
Needs to be closer to half that, in my opinion.
