Early Columbia Portable

I spotted this on the sfbay craigslist and thought I'd post it here in case anyone was interested:

From what I can tell, it's a "New Columbia Portable" model 140 illustrated on page 203, "The Columbia Phonograph Companion, Vol II." If so, this is relatively uncommon.

I don't know about the price. These were only produced for about a year or so, 1924/1925, before electrical recording and the Viva Tonal models hit the market. This is the first one I've ever seen for sale in 30 years, and it seems to be in pretty good condition.

The louvered horn, btw, is in the lid.

Sorry to post in an older post, but I was wondering, how 'rare' or uncommon are these New Columbia 140s?

I think I paid $50 for mine and gave it away. These things sound pretty good but they make a VV-50 feel light. There is also a small drawer for the crank or records.

In general I've found machines in the "New Columbia" line to be uncommon.
