Horn opinions?

Post by kirtley2012 »

I'm trying to sell off 2 of my phonographs (an edison Home B parts/project machine and a 1899 columbia Q) so that I will be able to put the money from those to finally get one fully working phonograph which will be my (currently incomplete) Edison Fireside model A, I need an Edison model H reproducer, A model C doorknob stylus but most of all, a horn.

If you were fixing this machine up, what horn would you get, I am stuck between either a maroon fireside horn or a #10 cygnet horn?
The case is not drilled for a cygnet horn and it won't be (although it does need refinishing), but I have an idea for making a simple wooden bracket for supporting the crane and horn without actually causing any modifications to the machine.
Any opinions or preferences?

If it has not been drilled for a cygnet horn, go with the maroon fireside horn. Any adaptation to make a bracket for the cygnet horn will look out of place and will stick out like a sore thumb. Keep it correct.

I agree with cleveland. Fireside horn is best.

Thanks guys, It will probably be a bit cheaper as well, I'm guessing.
