Free Presentations at the Union Show

Greetings,

On June 14th and 15th the 39th annual Phonograph & Music show will be held at Union Ill. It is the largest show in the USA. Friday, June 13, is Early Buyer/Dealer Set-Up Day.

The Antique Phonograph Society (formerly MAPS & CAPS) invites you to an exciting meeting of the APS:

DATE: Friday, June 13

5:00 p.m. presentation:
Movie: Talking Furniture - 25th Anniversary Screening.
Introduction by film maker and Academy Award-winning sound mixer, Mark Ulano

6:30 p.m. presentation:
Chicago and the Talking Machine Between the World's Fairs: 1893-1933
George Glastris - historian, collector Antiques Roadshow appraiser, and Chicago denizen - describes how the windy city was a critical hub for the phonograph during its first 40 years of commercial growth.

Location: Former Theater (Ice Cream Parlor area) in the Main Museum Building.

This is a FREE EVENT! All are welcome!
A bar and barbecue dinner will be available for your dining pleasure.

I plan to attend. I actually purchased a copy of the "Talking Furniture" video not long after it was released, and I watched it several times. Unfortunately, it burned up in a house fire 20 years ago, so I haven't watched it since.
