On Saturday 21st February, the City of London Phonograph and Gramophomne Society will be holding a joint open day in conjunction with The Musical Museum at their new purpose built premises at Kew.
A Phonofair featuring traders from around the UK and hopefully Europe has been organised, with doors opening at 10:00. Cost of admission to the Phonofair only is £7.50 from 10:00 to 11:00 and £3.00 after 11:00
There will be display stands around the Museum demonstrating various phonographs and gramophones and the Musical Museum itself will be open for tours of it's collection with a reduced admission of £3.00 to all CLPGS members(normal admission price is £10.00). The voucher giving this 70% discount was enclosed with the Winter 2014 issue of For the Record and sent to all members.
The Musical Museum featuring probably one of the lagest collections of mechanical music in the UK is well worth a visit and is located at:
399 High Street
Brentford
Middlesex
TW8 0DU.

The nearest station is a few minutes walk away at Kew Bridge on the line from Waterloo or Gunnersbury on the District and Overground lines then a short bus ride to outside the museum.
I hope to see many of you on the day.

There is ample parking about 150 yards down the road (west) in a multi-storey car park at the leisure centre next to the river. Should be a good day.

Oh, and there's also a licenced cafe on site serving beers, wines and light snacks. There are also some pretty decent pubs nearby; I can personally recommend The Express, just next to Kew Bridge railway station.
As well as tours of the museum and demonstations of gramophones and phonographs on the display stands, there will also be recitals throughout the day on the Museum's vintage cinema organ.
It should be a really good day.

After the day at the Museum, head for the City Barge pub at Strand on the Green, by the river upstream of Kew Bridge about 200 yards along. You won't regret that, either!

The City Barge pub was featured in the Beatles film "Help", although you would be hard pressed to recognise it now.

This was a most successful day and went well apart from few hiccoughs at the very start. All the people I spoke to, including the staff from the Musical Museum itself, thought it great day and that we should repeat it next year.
