Re: What machine is this?
Because of the record bins it appears to be something from the UK, one of those "assembled" machines with Swiss parts.

Re: What machine is this?
I do not think that the cabinet and it's "works" started life together, as the winding handle appears to emerge inside the right hand bin which would make it extremely awkward to operate.

I agree its possible the mechanism has come from a different machine .The tonearm and soundbox look of an earlier style too . Needs to be inspected properly .

Re: What machine is this?
Agreed. Looks like two mismatched pieces jammed together. The outer cabinet looks as if it may be "homemade" as well. With those two front panels, right & left, having the grain running the wrong way and looking like stained & varnished plywood, or some other cheap wood.

Re: What machine is this?
It could still be a genuine cabinet- I've seen cheap 20's-30's furniture where everything is birch and poplar with a sprayed on tinted finish to cover everything up. If this is something home made I still think it has some age - but very little value.JerryVan wrote:Agreed. Looks like two mismatched pieces jammed together. Judging by the advertisement claiming it's original, the seller seems to be the bigger lyre.estott wrote:The grille appears to be a Lyre, upside downALVES wrote:I agree its possible the mechanism has come from a different machine .The tonearm and soundbox look of an earlier style too . Re: What machine is this?
Re the position of the crank, another possibility is that this is one of those cabinets made to have a table top machine set into it.
