CLPGS: Annual General Meeting Weekend. 7-9 October 2016

The details have now been finalised for the 2016 City of London Phonograph and Gramophone Society Ltd. AGM Weekend at the Abbey Hotel, Great Malvern Worcestershire UK.
I understand that the Hotel is now fully booked for accommmodation but day visitors are very welcome. The cost for a day visitor is £25.00 per day which includes admission to all the talks, morning and afternoon refreshments and a buffet/cavery lunch. Bookings for day visitors should be made with Dave Roberts on e-mail at: phonographs@btinternet.com
Great Malvern is a tourist area and there is plenty of alternative accommodation in the town or the surrounding villages

FRIDAY 7TH OCTOBER
18:00 Wine Reception and welcome from the Chairman and President
Evening at leisure in the hotel or in Great Malvern
SATURDAY 8TH OCTOBER
10:00 "The Officer, The Artist and the Magician" - the story of a remarkable discovery presented by Paul Baker
11:00 Coffee/Tea Break
11:30 "The Life of Alan Blumlein From his Son's Perspective" presented by Simon Blumlein
13:00 Lunch
14:15 "Acoustic Orchestral Recording" - what modern recreations of the process can teach us about original recordings - presented by Duncan Miller
15:15 Coffee/Tea Break
15:45 "Girmac: A 1930s Glasgow Recording Company" - presented by Ken Jobling
19:30 Gala Dinner
21:30 (approx) "Sound oif the Tims" - presented by Peter Clinch
SUNDAY 9TH OCTOBER
10:00 Annual General Meeting (Admission is free and is open to all members)
10:30(approx) Coffee/Tea break
11:00 Auction
13:15 Lunch
15:00 "Hawiian Serenade" by the Hula Bluebirds. A professional band based in the London area
19:30 Dinner
After dinner relax in the hotel and play and listen to your own or others favourite records on the Society's "Expert" gramophone which will be on hand with a good supply of needles.
It's shaping up to be another great weekend and I hope to see many of ypou there.
