The 3rd CLPGS Phonofair and phonograph and gramophone demonstration will be held in conjunction with the Musical Museum on Saturday 8th April.

The location will again be the Musical Museum's state of the art purpose built premises at 399 High Street, Brentford, TW8 0DU in west London. The nearest stations are Kew Bridge then a 5 minute walk or Gunnersbury (District Line and London Overground)and a short bus ride to the door. The doors open for the phonofair at 10:00 with "Early Bird" entry of £7.50 and £3.00 entry after 11:00. Traders from all over Britain will be there, buying and selling phonographs, gramophones, cylinders and records.

If you have items to sell, only 3 tables are currently still available at a cost of £25.00 each, please contact me on twoodwolley@clpgs.org.uk for further details.

Demonstrations of phonographs and gramophones will take place throughout the day and it is hoped that the Museum's cinema organ will also be in action this year.

Normal admission charges to the Musical Museum will apply except on presentation of the CLPGS discount voucher(included with the Spring 2017 copy of For the Record) with gives a 70% reduction on the normal coat of the tour.

Refreshments will be available from the Museum's cafe or from local pubs near by.

If the previous two joint open days are anything to go by, this has the makings of being another excellent day out.

Hope to see many of you there.

A most sucessful and enjoyable day was at the premises of the Musical Museum in Brentford, west London.

The CLPGS had a small display and exhibition area located at the end of the guided tours of the Museum so members of the public came through to see the phonographs and gramophones on display. The Society's "Expert" was playing in the Museums entrance lobby throughout the day. Upstairs, the Museum's Concert Hall had been conveted into a Phonofair for the day, with traders from all over the UK buying and selling cylinders, records and machines.

A few pictures below, give a flavour of the day and our thanks go to the staff and volunteers who helped to make it such a sucess.

The improvised volume control on the CLPGS Expert Minor is a variation of "put a sock in it". Here is mine :
