So I invited a friend over to help me make a recording horn. We made it out of a walmart funnel and posterboard. It's around 26 inches long with a 6 inch opening.
Is there another material I can use or another way to make a better recording horn?

In hindsight thanks to your advice I now know that it would have been better to record this on an Edison Home.
And that Brown Wax Cylinders can only be played back on a Floating Type Columbia or Edison Suitcase.

If you look through my posts made on this group, I have contributed much in the area of cylinder recording and record blanks, and recording process. Also Chuck Richards had posted much information on the subject of cylinder recording.

The Victrola Guy on Youtube does a lot of cylinder recording as well. You can find a video on his channel:

If you are just practice recording on brown wax, trying out techniques, you most certainly CAN play back on a late model 2-minute reproducer, just be aware that the recording will wear rapidly, but with tests that doesn't matter so much.
