Is this a Franken-phone?

Post by nostalgia »

I am a newbie in collecting, and spotting a Franken-phone is a necessity.
Today I am offered this "phonograph", the seller knows nothing about it, he
had it for 15 years, bought it in a big and serious antique shop back then, and first time
today looked at the motor, when I asked him to open the lid. He did not even know it could
be opened. To me..this looks VERY much like a Franken-phone, BUT..I would love some feedback from someone
who knows this far better than me, to be sure.
There is a number on the soundbox: Colombia Brit pat noo 268257/264263
and the motor is Thorens, Swiss made.
Most aspects of this thing looks like crap to me, so now I am excited to know IF I have spotted my
first Franken-Phone

Update: Thank you Phono48, much appreciated that you took your time to answer.

Definitely a Frankenphone! The arm is half of a Columbia "Plane-reflex" arm, introduced late 1920s, the soundbox is from the same date. The horn may be an original, but with a few added bits to the end.

If the horn is an original it looks like one from a small cylinder machine. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.
