Interesting Facts: The VV-XVII was re-named VV-130 in 1921. The only real difference is the needle storage was relocated and a drawer replaced the covered cup for used needles. Victor produced 18,914 spring driven VV-XVII machines but only 5,259 of the spring driven VV-130. Very few were produced in Oak. This machine has never been in storage and I purchased it from the Great Grandson of the original owner. Until now, it spent it's entire existence in a northern suburb of Philadelphia. The machine is original in every respect including the original turntable felt and a complete set of original albums. I am waiting for the family history from the family and will add it here when I have it.
Even the back of this machine is beautiful, (see last picture). I have lightly cleaned the cabinet, but that is as far as I will go. The grime is part of the history and charm.

Like I said before, Django, that is a stunning machine. I see your machine is #2309....my oak 130 is #2356, so they were probably made within a few days of each other..

Re: Featured Phonograph No.137 Victor Victrola VV-130
$350 was a lot of money for a Victrola in 1921, when a Model T Ford cost $325.
From it's wonderfully original state of preservation, the original owner and his descendants clearly thought very highly of it.
I wonder what car the original owner had?
