Couple of questions about my victor XV1 "L" door. I am in the process of refinishing an oak "L" door machine and have a couple of questions.
1. Does this machine take a special decal for under the lid or are they all the same?
2. Is the key different on this machine or are they all the same?
Thanks for any help.
Dave

You'll find this page useful for identifying various phonograph keys:

Re: Questions on the victor XV1 ("L") door model
Dave,
My VTLA takes a gold wreath key, but the later L-Doors took a standard gold V key. As for the decal, I think the decal changed from "Victor Talking Machine" to "Victor Victrola" header fairly early on, but I do not know the approximate cut off date or serial #. I have seen a thread here about it a couple of years ago. A good search should answer the question.
Good Luck!
Matt
