Thank you, John. I've added your Chippendale to the list. A Duncan stop is an electrically actuated brake that was sold by Edison on some C250's. It was mounted on rear of the reproducer and would be wired through a "tube" on the horn throat and connected to an electric stop mounted under the turntable.

This a very short description best left to others with more knowledge than myself.

I've recorded your Chippendale and included your historical notes.

I am very excited to do this; my first attempt to put together something that should be helpful to us all. I am honored to contribute.

Shelve slots are numbered 1-36 and 37-72 by the way.
I do not use the slots at the far ends because I find it difficult to remove the records and fear damaging them.

Thank you, John, I've added your note.

Hi folks,

A short update:

I've been tracking machines at eBay, Craigslist and the internet for the past few days with success on 8 or 10 additions to my database. A contributor outside of our group was gracious enough to respond to my email, with a C19 that was purchased new by his Great Uncle in October or November 1919. He has restored it and still enjoys using it.

Thank you, Richard Densmore!

Obviously, dates are especially important in trying to establish an accurate timeline, so far, I've only encountered three Chippendales with dates.

There are many more emails and PM's I'm waiting on replies from. My count so far is 20 C250's and 23 C19's, I hope to observe many more!

Best,
Fran

Fran,
Here is an interesting piece of ephemera with the serial number and date for a C19 that was sold on May 1, 1920 in Montevideo, MN. These certificates were issued to buyers who attended a Tone Test demonstration and then bought a machine. It will be interesting to see if the machine matching this serial number turns up. I have another one of these for machine 134638 that was signed by Helen Clark and Joseph Phillips but never completed. I think the dealer must have gotten over zealous and had some extra certificates signed at a demonstration but then didn't sell the machine.
