The Manophone

James Manoil Company, Inc. 60 Broadway, New York City.
Oak case 17 X 18 ¼ - four black nailed on rubber feet.
Nickel plated tonearm with nickel plated bracket (top set screw) similar to a Victor style mount.
Oak grille with center oval - tan grille cloth (looks original with moth holes)
Reproducer not original to this machine
Single spring motor serial no. 211
Dial-type speed control also similar to a Victor.
Under turn-table brake with leather pad.
12" turntable with light green original felt.
Two needle cups built into the motor board, one metal used needle cup with lid.
Two slots cut into the rear of the motor board for sound exit - wood internal horn with a baffle.

This Manophone plays very loud and clear. Will play both sides of a 8" record on a single winding.
When I got it the finish was dirty and dark so I cleaned it with Kotton Cleanser and some Restore-A-Finish.
Pretty big and rather heavy machine with a very well make oak cabinet - too big for my shelf collection
I need the correct reproducer to make this Manophone all original again!! Mica - says Manophone Music Master.

Very nice machine, it's incredibly clean and in gorgeous condition.

I have a few table top machines and can't figure out the best way to display them.
I like to use all of my machines occasionally so stacking is out of the question,
but I'm probably not to far from that in the future.

That's a neatly designed machine. The wood's pretty, and I especially like the art deco-ish styling of the grille. Nice find!

Mr. Grumpy: I only use Kotton Cleanser or Go-Jo. Top that off with Howards Restore-A-Finish and Howards Bee's Wax and a lot of elbow grease! I like the smaller table-top machines, especially the off-brands like the Arionola, Ecco, Yale, etc. Always buying the off brands. Always, even some of the big uprights.

I have a few myself, one is an Arionola pictured here --> http://redcarmusicco.com/Pages/Phono&Ra ... etail.html
I always describe it as 'reflective sound' technology.
