Strange. Looks like a chopped off Victrola X Queen Ann with odd columbia parts here and there. I've never seen anythying quite like it. It's a bit scary...

The wood looks very peculiar as well- the outside has certainly been over refinished and maybe the veneer stripped. And what is with that screwed on GRAMOPHONE plaque?

Still, this is a lot of speculation over a fragmentary corpse.

I'm going to go out on a limb an say it's actually a chopped common VV-XI. The reason I think it is, is first the presence of a keyhole. The only X that had a key was the table top version (which this obviously isn't). The second reason is how short the trim is under the speaker doors. The spider leg X actually had a good bit of wood beneath the speakers, but if you look at the XI, there is actually only the small strip between the speak doors, and record storage doors. Also, the side trim flares out too early for the X. On the X, they're straight and curve out below the spearkers, these flare out 2/3s of the way down the speaker.



Still, it was a rather steller job of totally mucking up a machine. But at least they destoryed a more common one.

Hmmm, I'm not so sure. It looks like the front "legs" have a cut out for hinges on either side?
I don't know if that decal panel is original- you wouldn't think so?, but it looks like the decal has something like "Musika G P" printed in the sky area. It's not very readible when enlarged, but I'm sure I've seen needle tins with a similar brand on them. The timber doesn't look familiar to me either, so I'm wondering if it's some German timber like an ash or something.

I was thinking the same thing myself. The interior looks like regular mahagony, and the tone arm looks like a victor tone arm (or HMV)....The label doesn't look original to me. Looks a little homemade, but I could be entirely wrong on that part (and whats with the screw on label, or is it plate over it).

That one might actually look OK- many Edison Disc table models (like the Chalet) look chopped off anyhow.
