Yeah... how about an update...?

Sorry for my super delayed reply! I've been out of commission for the year, and haven't done anything with the unit since my last update.

I can hopefully find some time in the coming weeks to do a little woodwork on the box. All that's left is some sanding, shellacking, and decal application. However since it's freezing over here it's going to be a pain to get the shellac to cooperate. We'll see how it goes.

Huzzah! He lives!--and the little graphophone will be back too.

Some sort of shop heater might help? A $15 oil-filled radiator from a thrift shop may do the trick.

Hopefully, you live in a heated home... I do a lot of finish work in the house on a large piece of cardboard. Obviously, sanding and other really messy work cannot be done indoors, but applying shellac is not a problem...

The garage is heated but the heater run forever and never get the space warm enough for painting or shellac. Too much heat loss due to poor insulation.

The house is heated, but sanding dust would go everywhere and I plan on spraying the shellac, so that's a no-no in the house. I'll figure something out.

Maybe, instead of spraying the shellac, you might try applying it with a clean, lint free cloth. I have used that method successfully indoors... Obviously, the sanding needs to be in the garage...

Despite my vast absence, I'm not dead yet!

I saw the box of parts sitting in the corner of the garage collecting dust and figured "I should really finish this 7 year old project". I promise to get this done this year!

Question: What happened to all my photos? They seem to have disappeared.... :?:

All photos on the forum before a certain fairly recent date have done likewise. It's been rather a sore spot for quite some time now, and as far as I know nobody has an explanation or solution. :(

Hmm, well that's unfortunate. I still have all the photos on my computer, so I could re-upload all of them if that doesn't disrupt anything.

I certainly would want to do that for that one thread I created about how to do nickle plating, since that's useful.
