Larry,
Because I'm on the road now, working 12-16hr days, using my iPhone for Internet access, use glasses (when I'm wearing them anyway), and can't remember the details os something I'm not going to buy anyway . . . I can be prone to errors in observation and recall. I look at a few dozen machines on CL almost every day and can't keep 'em all straight! LOL!

Re: Crystola
Usual rule: when in doubt, it's Mahogany. Except on Ebay where everything is either Oak or Cherry. When did they stop making mahogany furniture- the early 1960's? That's when "Fruitwood" came in.

John,
I wasn't trying to downplay your thoughts on the possible finish. I just looked at it and the grain would appear to not have the pattern normally found in oak of that time period. But heck, it could be some odd staining of a oak finish too, but the grain seems to say not. Photos make it really hard sometimes too if they aren't really clear which these are not.

My reply is good-natured!

Re: Crystola
FYI, This is a very interesting Model , it plays Both lat. and vert. records..the reproducer folds over and plays with the mica side down facing the record..Will post pics of the unusual Needle Bar placement...
