USlakeside,

It's a fake, but a better quality fake-if that means much :D

To my untrained eye it looks like there maybe a few decent original parts, but not enough for that price methinks.

John

Looks like a British disc machine from the teens with a fake decal and obvi a fake reproducer. Sorry someone is paying 800 for that thing!

Perhaps someone should tell the seller particularly as he guarantees the authenticity of the machine. Boy. that's a lot of cash to pay for a fake.

It's supposedly from 1904 but the "Viva-tonal" label on the front is mid 1920's. I think there are some period parts in this, and a load of flashy plating.

A complete and utter cobbled together fake. New horn, new case, cheap motor and total rubbish. Does the seller want me to guarantee THAT to his customer? I will! ;)

It even comes with the famous His Master is Lying Voice sound box.

What kind of people are bidding on this crap (-ophone)
Are they the same people who'll buy a Victor 6 for thousands of $ :?

Holy Smokes  ! It's over one thousand dollars now! I would love to find out who the people are that are bidding on this (so that I can alert them to the fact that Wyatt Earp's Victrola is up for auction also)!

I can only imagine the bidders are mezmerized by the glare: "Pret-ty, pret-ty, shi-ny, shi-ny"
