I was going thru my reproducers on my machines and I found I had two winged B reproducers, One is on a 2 latch standard and one is on a 4 latch home. The serial numbers seem low I also have the non winged B reproducer. Did they make many of these reproducers.???? I understood they were like an interim reproducer before the winged C came out... All square top Standards had either a Standard Speaker or an Automatic Reproducer. Early machines hat the Standard Speaker. The new style case was introduced in1901 and also came with an Automatic Reproducer up until 1902 when it was replaced with the Model-C reproducer. The Model B reproducer never had a side arm according to Frow. This reproducer was used on Gem and Triumph machines and for export on Edison Bell machines. You will see an occasional Model-C top with a Model-B weight.

I checked the notes I have from Steve Medved. He says that Model-B reproducers had an arm up until serial number 29489. He also says that the Model-B reproducers did not have the centering notch until 18000. By SN 43095 the weight began being stamped Model B. Around SN 110,000 the weights were drilled and tapped so it could hold an extra lead weight. Around SN 150,000 the Model-B got a 2.2 onune lead weight. Just a little history on the Model-B.

This one is 12000 and it looks like it has a notch. Maybe someone added it to it. I will check my other one. Tom B
