Victor D with Spear Point horn

Post by victorthesixth »

I have a Victor D with a spear point horn and as you can see the horn does not insert all the way into the back mount. Is there a way to fix this? Is this an acceptable as is for historical purposes?

Well I managed to get the picture to attach even though it is facing done one can still see the issue ( or what I think is an issue)

The back brace ( the nickel part, not sure of the term) manages to connect to a brass horn without this gap.

Is this an original elbow or a repro one? If it is a repro one, that is a common problem. What I did to correct it was to tweak the bayonet slot just a tad to grip the horn. Be careful and gentle and do little bits at a time.
