Introduction and completed RCA RAE-59 restoration

My grandparents bought one of these changers new in the 30s. Theirs was a two speed- 78 and 33. By the time I came along it was in their basement, replaced in the living room by a Magnavox Concert Grand. The RA machine was fascinating to watch and I've always wanted one.

Amazing to hear your relatives once owned one of these. The two speed feature on this machine is quite interesting. Wish early RCA 33 ½ records were easier to come by!

I have a couple extra Nat Shilkret semi- classical issues of these if you are interested. They are the 10" size too so you can use them with the changer as if I recall 12" ones need to be played manually, right?

These machines are quite rare considering a car could be purchased for the same price! RCA's most expensive and impressive unit in 1931 was the Radiola Automatic Electrola model 79. $600 is a lot back then, try $1,000.00 new!
