Victrola Model 8-60 Question

Post by gemering »

Just a curiosity question:

In late August I just missed out on a Craigslist offering for a Victor Model 8-60.
I was the second person to inquire about the machine and was told that it would be available if the first party (coming to look at the machine that evening) decided not to take it.
How rare is this model and are there any collectors here on the forum that have one in their collection?
I would've loved to be able to own the example that I missed out on!

Thanks to anyone who replies.

Gene

This model is quite rare, and very desirable in the collector's community, as there were about 3,500 8-60s made. I don't own and example of this machine, and I know of no one on the forum who owns one, but we may find out soon if someone here caught it.

I own one. It needs restoration, but the stuff that's usually broken on most is o.k. on mine. (Pot metal stuff) I wouldn't dare plug it in as it is now.

(Not currently for sale. Still have high hopes of a restoration.)

I was the first guy. When I picked it up he told me he could have sold it 13 times. It has a few issues but is restorable.

Congratulations on a great find and good luck with the restoration.
The 8-60 is a fascinating machine.
