Can you clean moldy Edison cylinder boxes?

Yes-use a rag or cheese cloth that is lightly damp with alcohol, wipe out the box until it shows clean, and use a piece of cheese cloth that is dipped into two pound cut shellac, rung out and then wipe out the box well. let it dry overnight and you are good to go. An old art restorers trick to get rid of mold from the back of an oil painting or frame.

I'd still throw out the cotton lining- there is no way to get lingering mold out of that short of washing, and I doubt it would be usable after
