Jerusalem Mournin'?

That's a Polk Miller record: a tragic loss...

And The Tariff Question: iirc, that's either Roosevelt or Taft - a historic record.

Yes it is the Taft speech :(
I think I have saved the Taft cylinder with some gentle heat and and a little finagling.

The Polk is pieces unfortunately..

9996 "Foreign Missions" is also a William H. Taft recording from 1908. If this one and the other Taft cylinder along with the Polk Miller "Jerusalem Mournin'" were in nice clean condition then this is just awful as these were historically notable recordings. And very difficult to find in nicely preserved condition. What a shame. For what it's worth, here is "Jerusalem Mournin" from my collection:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1mAP9up6mc For those who choose to watch and desire to skip past the background I provide on the cylinder and go straight to the recording, it begins at about the 7:30 mark.

A few you were not able to identify:

8162 Come Out Dinah, On the Green - William H Thompson
10333 Old Time Religion - Polk Miller
10326 Someday Melinda - Collins and Harlan

Good lord, two Tafts and two Polk Millers lost. What a crime!

Sorry to hear about the broken cylinders. Very sad indeed. As postings indicate wax cylinders are very delicate. In situations like this its better to jump in a car and personally go and pick the item up. You may have to adjust your schedule but it's worth it especially if it requires less than a day's trip. I've done this before for phonographs and records. I highly recommend for the next time.

Isn't that always the way, though? Any time I've bought a collection and anything is broken, it never seems to be the common stuff that breaks. Ever.

I understand Kirk. Please let the forum know if we can help with delivery when you make such purchases in the future. Where in Maryland was the purchase shipped?
