Thanks All.
Well, now I know the full scoop on these new cylinders. Might have to try a couple just to see how they sound.

Most everyone here would recommend that. They will last a very long time.

I never had any luck getting cylinders to stack up. They roll too easily.

I have many of the Berlin phonograph works, made by Norman Bruderhofer. They are exceptional in quality, volume, and appearance. Norman puts a lot of effort into making them. I would highly recommend them to anyone!

I think they stack up very well but let the cylinder speak for itself. This one was offered by Berlin Phonograph Works, (WDC) a few years back. He has typically offers many rare, almost impossible to find titles.Victrolacollector wrote:I totally agree.billybob62 wrote:WDC is too modest to tell you that not only are his cylinder reproductions most excellent but they are often copies of cylinders that are selling to upwards of $1400, in some cases. Berlin Phonoworks, highly recommended labors of love.

These are all pretty neat, but the only issue I would have is being able to pay for the records. Two Berlin Records would be way more than I paid for my Edison Phonograph. Four, as much as I paid for my Victrola. Actually, I bought a portable Victrola and changed out the mainspring for as much as one Berlin Record would cost.
That said, Berlin has some amazing titles that I would love to have one day, and the recordings sound great!
Oh, and you're right. My Blue Amberols didn't really stack well either--always rolled off.

My Blue Amberol reproductions go for much less than the new cuts, as they do not require the costly re-mastering process:

$80.00 for a number that is selling on ebay for $700-$1400 is not expensive. It's just smart!
Plus, Norman goes to a very great deal of trouble to make these and he may some day decide to stop making them
just when you decide you are ready to buy. They are not on the shelves at Wal-Mart and may very well in time become as valuable as the soon to be crumbling originals.
