Hi all,
Ive recently encountered an issue with my Standard B. When I go to set the reproducer on the record, the mandrel stops moving. The motor is running still, but the mandrel doesn't move. When I lift up the carriage, the mandrel still doesnt move, even though the motor is running.
I've noticed that it doesn't stop exactly when I put it on the record. It slows down the closer I get. Any help?
Thanks

Perhaps the belt is too loose. The B models had belt tensioners. I'd make sure it is being used and working properly. I hope this helps. Jerry Blais

It's definitely a loose belt. There are discussions on how to install a belt. The Complete Talking Machine by Eric Reiss has an article on belt installation. If you don't have this book, I suggest you get a copy.

If the belt is loose then a temp fix is to take it off and rough up the inside with a knife. That will add a little more tension.. It also could be the adjustment on the carriage arm that puts too much tension on the feed screw or a main spring getting weaker. Couple of hints. Tom BJerry B. wrote:Perhaps the belt is too loose. Check the adjustments of the end bearings as well.

So it was the tweedle rod, next to the watch-ya- ma- call- it, attached to the thing a ma jig. They always need adjusted. Glad to hear it is running... Tom B
