Hello all,
I spotted a Columbia portable phonograph recently and I believe it to be a 140 model, but I wasn't sure. How common are these machines?
Thanks in advance.

I spotted your response on this thread: http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... f=9&t=8807
In answer to your question, yes, the 140 is pretty rare. They were only in production for a year or two before the Viva-Tonal models took over. I've never come across one.

OrthoFan, thank you for the information! I know this is a difficult question to answer, but what is a rough figure as to what they are worth?OrthoFan wrote:I spotted your response on this thread: http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... f=9&t=8807

Re: Columbia Model 140?
If I wanted to buy the one in the photo, I'd offer no more than $75-$100, providing the motor works and there are no pot metal issues. If I was selling it, I'd start out asking $150.VictorVV-X wrote:OrthoFan, thank you for the information!
