I wonder what they were playing when they filmed that. Thanks for sharing this.

If the names of the participants (both major figures in the early history of The Gramophone Company) are any clue, this may well be the real Nipper! One has to wonder how Mr. Barraud induced him to sit still for the original painting.

The film was made in 1900, but Nipper died in 1895. In fact, the original painting of Nipper listening to an Edison Bell phonograph was made posthumously in 1898 -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nipper

Bob Barker would love this...
How in the world did they all get there? No wonder they are in scarce supply here... if they had put them on the ground they would have taken up the entire barking lot...

Quotes from Bob Barker:
"Nothing gives me quite so much joy as when people tell me they've had their pets spayed or neutered."
"I can tell you that I'd rather be kissed by my dogs than by some people I've known."
"The phonograph† is not of any commercial value."
Thomas Alva Edison - Comment to his assistant, Samuel Insull.

"No one needs a Victrola XX, a Perfected Graphophone Type G, or whatever you call those noisy things."
