Strange Columbia Horn Crane
Does anyone know what this horn crane should look like completed or who made it. It is apparently made for Columbia BE & BF machines...

BG as well. We showed one of these cranes in one of our books, but offhand I don't remember which one.
The top piece included with this base is not original to the base. I've never seen documentation as to who made this.

Thanks, George... this recently sold on eBay and I was curious.
Do you recognize the top piece and what it might go to?

I think the top piece goes to a Hawthorne & Sheble floor crane. They pop up with some regularity. If someone knows for sure what this top piece goes to, I'd be obliged to learn it.Curt A wrote: Do you recognize the top piece and what it might go to?

Re: Strange Columbia Horn Crane
George,
I believe you are correct... I had one of those floor cranes and forgot how they went together. The flattened end threw me, but as I remember it the crane had a matching piece that fit together inside a brass coupling and could be disassembled for easy transport.
Thanks,
Curt
