The springs on the Amberola 30 drive gear?
I have always wondered what the purpose of the springs on the Amberola 30 drive gear are for? I have seen some of these that have broken off springs are they replaceable?

Those are balance springs to stabilize rotation of the mandrel.

They can be replaced with governor weight springs cut down.
