Another question is there a certain type of recording reproducer I need if I want to record?

This will take a regular Edison recorder, as used from 1901 - 1912. These can often be found on eBay: but you will have to make sure that the cutter is intact and in good condition. These are often missing: you can make a workable substitute with thin aluminum sheet and a glass rod of proper diameter, though.
