VV-X with matching record cabinet: what is it worth?
I found this nice VV-X at an antique store in Galveston. The price for the Victrola and record cabinet is $650.00. Is this a fair price? (The reproducer is missing, but the owner swears he has it, somewhere...).

The owner will not split up the set. The serial # and bullet brake indicates it is a 1911 model.

I think that it’s a XI and matching base cabinet, not a X. If it was near me I would pay as much as $1,000.00 for the pair, but that is just me. You don’t see a tabletop XI very often, and almost never with the base cabinet. It looks like a nice machine.

I stand corrected: it is a VV-XI. Thanks!

It's an early VV-XI and cabinet. It would have been home with me as soon as I found it for $650. It's a great deal. The reproducer is simple to find compared with the machine and cabinet. Gooseneck is on backwards and escutcheon is loose but those are nothing to correct.toysbyroy wrote: The price for the Victrola and record cabinet is $650.00. Is this a fair price?

You can always bargain for the machine. Most of the time the prices are not fixed. If he can not find the reproducer you should try to get at least $100.00 off of it for the price of a reproducer. It will not harm to try. All he can say is no then you pay the $ 650.00 and be happy you got a bargain. Tom B

For $650 I'd get that in a heartbeat, that is an excellent deal!

All I can say in two words, BUY IT!!!! The table top VV XI is very scarce, and with the cabinet, even rarer yet. This is one of those times, you don't dicker the price. The seller can change their mind. If it would be me, I would pay the amount with a smile on my face, get it in your car. Then get out of Dodge. I learned this a long time ago. I have seen instances where someone tried to dicker the price that was very fair, and the seller gets mad, and decides to keep the machine or item
