VV-XI with matching cabinet UPDATE
After thoroughly cleaning, the tabletop VV-XI is nearly ready to be taken in the house and room made for it. I think the machine and cabinet turned out nicely. But, I have a question; what is the notch for as seen in the photos above the crank?

Re: VV-XI with matching cabinet UPDATE
Congratulations on a nice looking outfit. I can think of no obvious reason for the notch above the crank. It looks like it was done with care. There were accessory items to play a radio through the Victrola horn. Perhaps it was done to run a wire late in the Victrolas use. Bottom line... I don't know.

Re: VV-XI with matching cabinet UPDATE
Beautiful! Congratulations. I love the combination with the cabinet.
No idea about the notch either. My tabletop VV-X doesn't have it and the tabletop VV-XI at the Johnson Victrola Museum doesn't have it either if I remember correctly. I agree that it might have been for some kind of accessory.
