Edison Standard E Problem Resolved - Weird!

Post by MikeB »

I've been working on an Edison Standard Model E. I replaced the mandrel bearings, had the reproducer professionally rebuilt, put on a new belt, cleaned and oiled, etc. Regardless, the machine was running too slow, even when on the fastest setting, and the records were skipping badly, and my belt kept bouncing around on the lower pulley. And finally I got a good look at that lower pulley...

So here it is. Someone made it out of a piece of wood. The diameter was way too small, and there was no screw to hold it on the shaft. Plus it is eccentric. Pulley too small = machine too slow, I suppose, besides all the other problems associated with this. So now I am looking for a lower belt pulley.
