I've seen a few of the Columbia Small Gothic models over the years, and in my experience, they all have the same four figures carved on them, but the polychrome decoration is different on each.

It appears you are correct. The polychrome is vastly different but the carvings appear to be the same and in the same place. There are two on eBay right now (one an empty cabinet) and they show the same thing you found. Here are pictures from those auctions. And, here is the front of mine. You can see the characters are the same. It makes sense considering the cabinet design was patented.Silvertone wrote:I've seen a few of the Columbia Small Gothic models over the years, and in my experience, they all have the same four figures carved on them, but the polychrome decoration is different on each.

What a beautiful machine. It must have taken many fine craftsman to complete the record player. If I had it I probably rope it off in my living room to display it... NO WAY ... It displays very nicely and is well preserved. Tom
