I'm in South Calif. and mine arrived at least ten days ago, maybe 12 days ago. Great Issue!!! Speaking of newsletters, I found a couple ancient ones in my box of junk. Somewhere about 15 years ago, I acquired a whole box full of The New Amberola Graphic. When I had a GSPS meeting here about ten years ago, Ray Phillips asked how much I wanted for them. They weren't for sale, but since it was Ray Phillips, I said he could have them free. But two of them were not in that box, so i looked at them, No. 54 from 1985 and No. 74 from 1990. I looked in the 1985 issue to see if I could recognize any names that are still active from that ancient year. And yes, in those pre-Internet days, there was a Phonograph Forum conducted by George Paul! In this issue he has a long "thread" of questions and answers with a Tom Novak on how to restore cabinets. Looking in the classifieds there are some other well-known names. Kurt Nauck was looking for Victrola Credenza parts. Jerry Blais was looking for incomplete Victor phonographs, and in the obits, Morton Downey just died at age 83. Looking in the 1990 issue, George Paul is still running the Phonograph Forum. Thomas C. Rhodes wrote a superb series of articles called Life in the Orthophonic Age. I wouldn't mind seeing those articles re-printed.

Issues of The New Amberola Graphic (I believe all of them) are available to members of the Antique Phonograph Society as part of the 20,000 pages of its online archive. It's all searchable too.

The NAG was a good newsletter, but really not to be compared to what we enjoy today in The Antique Phonograph. Back in the 1980s/1990s we could only dream of full-color images printed on quality glossy paper! :)

I wrote the Phonograph Forum from 1984 to 2004. It was great timing that just as The New Amberola Graphic was suspending operations, I was invited to write for The Sound Box (now The Antique Phonograph). It was a seamless transition for me, and the expanded format with plenty of room for images was wonderful.

Rene Rondeau has been Editor of the APS journal for over 14 years now - that's 57 issues he has put together (counting the March 2018 issue). That's quite a resource, bound for permanent reference. I refer to back issues about every week or two. Sometimes for fun, I'll just pull out a stack of random issues and look through them. It's a little frightening to me how many things in there I'd forgotten about!

George, I looked for the online New Amberola Graphic newsletters on the APS website, but could not find. Could you give me some more precise directions on how to find it? Thanks, Marc.

After you have successfully logged into the APS site, navigate to Articles / Advanced.

There you will see the Search Function, near the top of the screen.

Enter the Search Phrase of "New Amberola Graphic" and include the quotes.

You will see a query return list of all publications loaded to the website that reference NAG, for viewing, to include:

a Brunswick publication
ITG - In The Groove
NAG - New Amberola Graphic (redacted personal identifiable information)

Yes, and thanks to both of you. I had no idea what the APS website actually holds in its files!!! Wow, somebody did a ton of work! Marc.

You're right - - one APS member in particular (and not a Board member) donated hundreds of hours scanning documents to the web site. I'd mention his name but I'm not sure he'd like it. The APS is very lucky to have such members who are so generous with their time and tax-deductible donations.

I'm glad to hear it, but in another 3 days it would have been a MONTH since it was mailed. That would have made a good story...but sooner is better.

The APS hopes that this inexplicably slow postal service will not be repeated.

Arrived to the greater San Francisco Bay Area, at a point about ½ hour's drive from the Editor's house, on Saturday.
