The metal fittings are in "Florentine Bronze" except for the nickel plated spring loaded needle bins, which were fitted to the HMV portable models 100 and first version 101. They were quickly discontinued following complaints that the contents vibrated as the records played, and were replaced by the well known external corner needle bin.

I wonder how they came to be fitted to a Victrola?

If Canada ever has too many 8-7's lying around, let me know and I'll help to rectify the situation. Very nice machine!! I bid pretty steep on the 8-8 at the past Stanton auction, but someone else wanted it more... Got any spare 8-8's???

The 8-7 at Stantons had too many issues.

It may just be the lighting of the photo uploaded, but all the fittings on my 8-7 (including the needle bins / cups) have the same finish on them, referred to in the US usually as antique bronze. The 8-8 also uses these same ones. Some of the later VV-50 portables also had these. Interesting to hear about complaints from sympathetic vibrations! I've never experienced mine doing that and I own one of each machine.

Hey Sean, I remember you checking this for me when you first got your 8-7. I think I'm just confused by JohnM's

All the hardware is 'antiqued brass' including the spring loaded needle holders. It also has the holders for the Tungstone needle tins. It's the only Orthophonic machine I have so I'm not sure if this is the norm.

It's the only one I've ever seen around here and have never seen an 8-8 or 8-9 (sadly).
We have loads of maple syrup though if you're interested?
