Getting Lucky

Post by Django »

I found this early VV-XVII on Craigslist last Sunday Morning. The motor is in bad need of cleaning, both right side feet had been broken at some time, but the repair seems strong and it is not noticeable, (I broke both legs and nobody threw me out, so I have something in common with this one). I didn't even see the breaks until I was cleaning the machine, so very subtle repair. It presents very well and for $300.00 locally on Craigslist, I will not complain.

The gentleman told me that his father had bought it from the original owner for $10.00 in 1964 and he needed it to be gone, so I gladly paid him his asking price and I am very happy to have it.

Aren’t good Craigslist finds the best? I found an Edison home with a Cynet N. 11 for $250 this weekend.

I'll say it once more, we are at the beginning of a cycle for finding these beauties.

Congratulations! Really elegant machine with a beautiful rich finish. I love that it went from being unloved to finding a home where it will be appreciated and cared for. One word of caution-keep sunlight off of the finish-don't want to fade that beautiful patina!
