Finally finished the home suitcase

Post by tomb »

One of my favorite Edison's is the Home suitcase> I keep saying I am not going to buy or repair another Edison as I have a ton of them but this lower serial number home plate was offered up and I took the bait. I cleaned most of it up and had to purchase a bunch of parts. It is all original parts for that machine. I believe the top plate and the bottom with the motor are from the same machine. It took two cases to get a good one. I will probably buy a automatic reproducer for it though. I am working on a Edison Bell now as I do not have one. That will take a while as the parts are rarer. I'm a sucker for a good suitcase Home as well. If you did a thorough search in my basement you'd find three. Many are genuine 19th century machines that sell at very reasonable prices. Jerry Blais

Tom,

Very Nice!

(P.S. When searching for original parts, please try to swap out those Phillips head screws :))

The replacements are on order and should be here this week. I ran out of the replacement ones and had to get two more.. This is my fourth suitcase so unless something with a real low s/n comes up I am not going to buy another. This is my hobby and I really enjoy working on these ...Tom
