Busy Bee Cylinder Blanks

Post by cleveland1996 »

Hello everyone,

I know that we have some forum members that are reproducing wax Cylinder blanks for recording. Is anyone making or have the ability to make the larger mandrel size Busy Bee Cylinders? Record also?

Most busy bee cylinders that I have found are plagued with mold issues.

Thanks Folks,

Joe

By "Larger Mandrel" size...Do you mean the longer 6 Minute cylinders?? or the 5" Concert Cylinders???

Please elaborate..

Thanks,

On Busy Bee cylinders players the actual mandrel is slightly larger than the mandrel in an Edison or Columbia player. They are not the 6 inch records or near the size of concert or Salon cylinders. The appearance of these records looks to be the same size as conventional two minute records,. O’Neill-James made them this way so that you would have to buy their proprietary records as Edison or Columbia records would not fit...Another tactic to sell records. .

I am guessing demand would be very low. Just ream existing, readily available, blanks to size.
