I am planning to work on an early Edison Gem soon, but the mandrel pulley is pretty chipped up. I would like to look for another one at Union, but I am not sure if the model A and B are the same mandrel.
Any advice is welcome.
Thanks!

Ron Sitko has replacement pullies for Gem mandrels. They are very nice and work great.

Re: Are all Edison Gem mandrels the same?
Rich gave good advice but to answer your question... There was more variation in the Model A Gem than any other Gem or any other model of Edison cylinder player. If I remember my reading correctly the first Gem was rushed into production to compete with the low priced Graphophones and all the bugs had not been worked out. The led to quick fixes and modifications to the original design and great variation in parts. For this reason I have always been cautious about buying an incomplete Model A Gem.
