I've owned my Amberola 1A for about 25 years. I always thought it sounded good, with a rich tone and a lot of bass, though a bit muffled. Still, compared to most horn machines it was impressive. I recently made a video which I was going to upload to Youtube but I wasn't happy with it. The reproducer had some tracking problems and it wasn't a great presentation.
I decided I should send the M reproducer off to Steve Medved for his expert touch. It turns out there were all sorts of issues with it, from air leaks to poor gaskets to cracked stylus. He worked his magic and I absolutely can't believe the difference.
Tonight I took the old video and intercut sections with a new video so the improvement can be vividly heard. Check it out:

I can't recommend Steve Medved highly enough. His work is amazing.

What a difference. The comparison was great. This keep Steve in the rebuilding business for 30 more years. I hope.. II have had a couple done by him and a couple done by Wyatt in Freeport Ca. and Steve's are just great. He has a vast amount of knowledge on them too. Tom
