Hi Jerry, Just for testing purposes can you try elevating the entire mechanism with the horn fully engaged with the reproducer and see if that makes a difference? It sounds like the horn is either hitting the inside of the cabinet on its travel or, as you mention, the horn may be slightly bent. But lifting everything up (say, with fiber washers) with the horn attached will tell I believe. Is your horn suspended by a spring connected to the underside of the motor casting to make it free floating?

One other thought to add to the great suggestions-- In the bell of the horn is a pivot screw that attaches to the bottom of the case. If, over the years, that screw was relocated forward or back, it could be causing a bind on the horn... Check to see if there is more than one hole in the bottom of the case---

The horn could be binding where it joins the reproducer. Also make sure the track where the reproducer carriage rests is clean and smooth. Maybe the weight of the horn is causing it to drag.

I actually took the pin out from the horn and pushed the horn end all the way onto the reproducer neck as it should be. The machine plays perfect, it seems that the pin restricted the horn movement. The horn needs to turn quite a bit, and with the horn pin there, it caused the horn to be out of alignment and to bind. It does not really seem to need the pin.
