Hi everybody! A friend of mine has recently sent me the photo of an Edison Gem phonograph, asking me for details. It looks like a Model "A", but I've never seen a horn like this. Is it original? Which model is it?
The second UTO (Unidentified Talking Object) is a phonograph looking like a Puck, but without brand. Do someone know its name?
Thanks for any informations about these attachments!
Carlo

I would be very interested to see a closer shot of the badge on the front of the Gem’s lid. It looks very similar to one that I have on a Columbia B “Eagle” which gives the name of a dealer in Venezia.

That doesn't look at all like a phono horn to me...

The top machine is a French Dutreih "le Parisien" phonograph. A very simple machine which you can see in this 1909 brochure.

The "horn" on the GEM looks like part of a telescope missing it's guts... definitely NOT a phonograph horn.

Thanks a lot! I've received some other informations about the GEM and its very strange horn: this friend has sent me a better photo, in which we can see that the horn looks regular. I beg your pardon if I ask after few days, but I received the photo just today.
Thank Fonografica for the prompt answer and congratulations!
Dear PeterF, this friend told me that on the badge is written "J. BOMBER - LIVERPOOL". Hope it can help you!
Best greetings!

Agreed: I was tempted to call it part of a klaxon.howardpgh wrote:Looks like an ahOOgah car horn on the gem.
